Shannon Pizano grew up in poverty, spending time in trailer parks and homeless shelters, and later faced job loss and financial instability as an adult.
After losing his job at the post office, Pizano found himself sleeping on a friend’s couch and questioning why his life wasn’t moving forward. Though he had given his life to Christ as a teenager, he says he struggled to trust God with his finances.
While searching for direction, Pizano began learning about generosity and tithing. After a year of study, he decided to put those principles into action, giving his first $20 in faith. Within a week, he says he felt prompted to start a website design business. His first client paid $500, and within a year, Pizano earned $70,000–more than he had ever made before. Over the next five years, his income grew more than 500 percent.
Shannon said, “When you honor the Lord with your first fruits, with your 10%, God says, and he promises that he will open up the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing on your finances,” he says. “It’s just literally he’s telling us just to trust him with money and to put him first and to not let money be your God let him be your God and he’s going to prosper you.”
