Gatorade, owned by PepsiCo, is beginning to remove artificial food dyes like Red 40, Yellow 5 & 6, and Blue 1—replacing them with plant-based colors from fruits and vegetables. The transition is already underway and will roll out across products through 2026–2027.
This shift comes as federal health leaders—including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—push to phase out synthetic dyes, alongside growing consumer demand for cleaner ingredients. It’s not just one company—it’s a wider industry move, and one of the biggest names in sports drinks is now part of it!
