Gifts Are for Giving, Not Hoarding

YOUR GIFTS WERE NEVER MEANT TO FEED YOU

This image confronts a truth modern Christianity often resists: fruit exists for distribution, not consumption. A tree does not eat what it produces. It gives. And the moment a believer turns inward with what God intended to flow outward, fruit rots into pride.

Scripture never presents gifting as self-serving. From the beginning, blessing was tied to responsibility. God told Abraham he would be blessed so that he would become a blessing. Not admired. Not platformed. Not applauded. Distributed. The fruit in your life was never proof of your holiness. It was evidence of God’s intention to reach someone else through you.

We have turned gifts into identity and calling into branding. We measure success by visibility instead of obedience. But fruit that is hoarded does not multiply. It spoils. Jesus made this unmistakably clear when He taught that branches exist only to bear fruit, and branches that refuse that purpose are cut away. Not because God is cruel, but because fruitfulness without giving is rebellion disguised as spirituality.

The fruit of the Spirit is not for self-soothing. Love is for others. Patience is for people who test you. Kindness is for those who don’t deserve it. Self-control is for moments when obedience costs you comfort. None of these fruits make sense in isolation. They only reveal their purpose in relationship, sacrifice, and service.

This image exposes a hard question every believer must answer honestly: are you producing fruit, or are you consuming it? Are you guarding what God gave you, or releasing it where He intended it to go? The Kingdom of God does not advance through gifted individuals protecting their output. It advances through obedient servants laying it down.

Jesus Himself is the ultimate example. He did not retain His power. He poured it out. He did not preserve His life. He gave it. And because He did, many were fed.

Fruit that remains in your hands never fulfills its purpose. Fruit that is given becomes provision.
