God Resists the Proud

GOD RESISTS

A lot of people want a God who helps them, blesses them, opens doors for them, and fights for them.

But very few people stop and think about what it means to have God resisting you.

James 4:6 says God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

That should shake people.

Because pride is not just someone acting loud or arrogant.

Pride can look polished.

Pride can look religious.

Pride can look like always needing to be right.

Pride can look like refusing correction.

Pride can look like pretending you are fine when God is trying to break you open.

God resists the proud because pride leaves no room for Him.

The arrogant do not want truth. They want control.

The self righteous do not want mercy. They want to feel superior.

The rebellious do not want obedience. They want God without surrender.

The unrepentant do not want conviction. They want permission.

The deceitful want the benefit of appearing righteous without actually being righteous.

And the wicked keep choosing darkness while assuming grace will always excuse what they refuse to turn from.

Some people wonder why life feels so heavy.

Why nothing has peace in it.

Why every relationship keeps breaking.

Why they feel spiritually dry.

Why prayer feels distant.

Why there is no rest in their soul.

Sometimes it is not spiritual attack.

Sometimes it is not bad luck.

Sometimes God is putting His hand against the very pride that person keeps protecting.

That is the part people do not want to hear.

We love verses about favor.

We love verses about blessing.

We love verses about breakthrough.

But we do not like hearing that a person can live in a way that puts them in opposition to God.

And no one wins that fight.

If you are proud, humble yourself.

If you are hard headed, soften your heart.

If you are faking righteousness, repent.

If you are resisting God, stop before your life has to teach you what your Bible already did.

Because the same verse that warns us also gives hope.

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Grace is still available.

Mercy is still available.

But it is not for the person clinging to pride.

It is for the person willing to bow.
