At first, Janelle Wofford thought it was indigestion. When the pain spread to her shoulder and jaw, she called 911.
Moments after EMTs arrived, she suffered a heart attack and died, with no heartbeat for about two to two-and-a-half minutes. What followed, she says, was Heaven.
“I was overwhelmed with peace, joy, and comfort,” Janelle recalled. “There was no fear, no pain. I didn’t want to leave.”
She described a bright, familiar place filled with peace and the presence of loved ones. When she heard her name called and finally responded, she says she instantly returned as EMTs shocked her heart back into rhythm.
Doctors later found a small tear in an artery. After two days in the hospital, she was released.
Today, Janelle says the experience strengthened her faith—and her daughter’s. “Jesus is real. Heaven is real. And it’s all worth it. Knowing it’s there waiting,” she says, “changes everything.”
