I want to teach you something about how The Holy Spirit often operates. I was reading 1 Peter, focusing mainly on the second chapter, and when I finished I asked the Lord to speak to me. I immediately heard in my Spirit “September 18th”.
I felt to quickly research significant events on that day. You want to know what I found in less than 60 seconds?
Historically, September 18 marks the day when the cornerstone of the United States Capitol was laid in 1793. Want to know what’s super crazy about that?
1 Peter 2:4 (the chapter I was reading in) says, “You are coming to Christ, who is the LIVING CORNERSTONE of GOD’s TEMPLE. He was rejected by people, but He was chosen by God for great honor.”
1 Peter 2:4-8 is where Christ as the Cornerstone imagery is most fully developed, emphasized, and concentrated in Scripture.
The Holy Spirit wasn’t giving me a prophetic word. He was reinforcing the truth of Scripture I had just read by using a historical reference I DID NOT KNOW in the natural to highlight what was already revealed in the Word.
God will often do this when you spend enough time with Him. You will suddenly begin to see and hear what seem like “coincidences.” But actually, they’re just The Holy Spirit reinforcing to you that He is real, He is with you, and He is leading you into Truth.
