The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the SAVE America Act by a narrow 218–213 vote. The legislation would require voter identification in federal elections as early as this coming November.
According to the vote breakdown, all Republicans present supported the bill, along with one Democrat, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, who crossed party lines to vote in favor.
The measure now moves forward amid ongoing national debate over election integrity, voter ID requirements and access to the ballot.
