Jessica Simpson is celebrating eight years of sobriety, reflecting on a journey she says transformed her life through faith, surrender, and renewed purpose.
The singer and entrepreneur shared a heartfelt message on social media, writing, “Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency. Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith.” She added, “Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”
Simpson has previously described 2017 as her “rock bottom,” recalling a moment when she no longer recognized herself. “I knew I had to stop,” she wrote in her memoir. “Something inside me said it was time to return to who I really was — a child of God.”
Her recovery involved therapy, family support, journaling, and a deepening faith. “I had to learn that my strength was never meant to come from performing or controlling everything,” she said. “It came when I finally let go.”
Now sober for eight years, Simpson credits God’s grace and the support of her husband, Eric Johnson, and their three children for helping her remain grounded. “Every day I wake up and thank God that I get to be fully present,” she said. “Faith doesn’t promise a perfect life; it gives you the courage to live an honest one.”
Reflecting on her transformation, Simpson emphasized that true strength came not from striving, but from surrender — a message she says continues to shape her life and future creative work.
