One of the most overlooked details in the book of Hebrews is this:
Old Testament priests never sat down in the tabernacle.
Why? Because their work was never finished.
Day after day:
– more sacrifices
– more offerings
– more blood
– more atonement
Sin was being covered continually, but never fully removed once for all.
In fact, the tabernacle and temple were designed without priests’ chairs connected to their ministry work. The priest was always standing because the job was never complete.
But then Hebrews says something powerful about Jesus:
“After He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, He sat down at the right hand of God.” — Hebrews 10:12
Jesus sat down because:
the work was finished.
No more repeated sacrifices.
No more endless offerings for sin.
The cross was sufficient forever.
This is why Jesus cried out, “It is finished.” (John 19:30)
The Old Covenant priests stood daily ministering sacrifices that could never fully remove sin.
But Jesus, the perfect High Priest, offered Himself once for all—and then sat down in the place of authority at the right hand of the Father.
Redemption had been accomplished.
His sacrifice was enough.
