When Jesus was falsely accused, mocked, and put on trial, He didn’t defend Himself.
He didn’t argue.
He didn’t correct them.
He didn’t fight back.
“Like a lamb led to the slaughter… He did not open His mouth.” — Isaiah 53:7
That prophecy was written hundreds of years before the cross. And Jesus fulfilled it.
“But Jesus remained silent.” — Matthew 26:63
Why?
Yes, to fullfill prophecy. And also because this was the plan. If Jesus had defended Himself, He could have stopped it because He was innocent.
But He didn’t come to escape the cross. He came to endure it.
Every accusation He absorbed…
Every lie He refused to answer…
Was part of Him taking our place.
The silence was surrender to the will of the Father. He was choosing to die so so we could be forgiven, justified, set free, and healed.
