Skillet frontman John Cooper recently spoke out after controversy surrounding the Dove Awards, warning that the real danger facing the Church is not simply secular culture—but Christians losing the courage to stand firmly on biblical truth.
Cooper criticized what he sees as growing compromise within parts of Christian culture and said many believers have become too afraid of backlash to boldly uphold Scripture. “They know that Christians are so wimpy and weak,” he said while addressing the pressure many feel to seek cultural approval rather than obedience to Christ.
His message was this: the Church cannot remain spiritually strong if it constantly bends to the spirit of the age. Christianity was never meant to mirror culture—it was meant to transform it through truth, holiness, and unwavering devotion to Jesus Christ.
