A federal jury in Detroit has awarded $12.69 million to Lisa Domski, a longtime IT specialist at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, after she was terminated for declining the COVID-19 vaccine on religious grounds.
Domski, a practicing Catholic who worked at the company for more than 30 years, requested a religious exemption, stating her belief that the vaccines were developed or tested using fetal cell lines conflicted with her faith. The jury’s award includes $10 million in punitive damages, $1 million for emotional distress, and approximately $1.69 million in lost wages and future earnings.
