Letitia Wright Credits God After BAFTA Rising Star Win

Christian faith was prominently highlighted when Black Panther star Letitia Wright accepted the Rising Star award at the 72nd annual BAFTA Film Awards in London.

During her acceptance speech, Wright openly identified herself as “a child of God” and credited her faith for sustaining her through a difficult period earlier in her career. She revealed that she had experienced a deep season of depression and had considered quitting acting altogether.

“The only thing that pulled me out of that was God — my belief, my faith, my family,” Wright said.

She emphasized that her success was not overnight and described herself as “still a work in progress.” Wright also thanked her family, her team, and those who believed in her talent and gave her opportunities.

Addressing the audience directly, Wright offered encouragement to anyone struggling privately, particularly those facing depression. She reminded listeners that God knows their struggles and affirmed their value, saying, “God made you, and you’re important.”

Wright concluded by encouraging people to let their light shine, underscoring a message of faith, perseverance, and hope.
