One of America’s most famous symbols of freedom has a Bible verse on it. Engraved on the Liberty Bell are the words:
“Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof.”
That line comes directly from Leviticus 25:10.
In the Bible, this verse describes the Year of Jubilee—a time when slaves were released, debts were forgiven, and people were restored to freedom. It was God’s command that liberty should be proclaimed across the land.
When the bell was commissioned in 1751 for what is now Independence Hall, the founders of Pennsylvania chose that Scripture intentionally. It reflected the belief that true liberty comes from God and should apply to all people.
The real history of America’s founding is filled with moments like this. And most people today have never been told. Because of this, many now believe a lie that America wasn’t founded on Biblical principles.
So I’m going to do something about it. Follow along if you want to know the truth.
