Captain Charles Riffel, commander of the Crime Prevention Unit and a veteran officer of more than 32 years, said prayer is a regular practice among his team. “We always pray,” Riffel said, explaining that on the night the photos were taken, officers were preparing for duty during a local lights festival.
Riffel said he encouraged officers to pray not only for themselves but for everyone they would encounter. “I told my team to pray not just for guidance for ourselves but for everyone out there,” he said.
