“During a UEFA Europa League clash against Lille on February 26, the ultras group Delije of Red Star Belgrade unveiled a massive Orthodox icon inside Rajko Mitić Stadium in Belgrade.
The icon portrayed Saint Simeon the Myrrh-flowing, the 12th-century founder of the Serbian state who later renounced his throne to embrace monastic life. The display coincided with his feast day.
Accompanying the image was a banner declaring:
“May our faith lead you to victory.””
