Pastor Allen Jackson Slams CNN Christian Nationalism Documentary

Pastor Allen Jackson is pushing back against CNN’s documentary “The Rise of Christian Nationalism,” calling it “misguided” and “an intentionally dishonest piece.”

Speaking on Fox News, Jackson, senior pastor of World Outreach Church in Tennessee, said the program presents a distorted view of people of faith. “I think it’s so misguided and, to be honest, it is just functionally dishonest,” he said.

The documentary examines what it describes as the growing influence of Christian nationalism. Jackson rejected its framing, arguing that America’s founding was deeply shaped by faith. “There is no question that our founding documents and our founders intended a Judeo-Christian worldview to shape our nation,” he said. While noting the U.S. has “never been uniquely Christian” or had a state-sponsored faith, he added that “those Judeo-Christian values shaped our founding documents, our legal system, our educational system, our approach to business.”

Jackson also disputed claims in the film that the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk “radicalized” Christians. “You have to be seriously avoiding reality when Charlie Kirk was murdered and hunted in public to say that Christians try to fabricate the idea that they are being persecuted,” he said. He described the Christian response to Kirk’s death as “dramatically different” from other recent public protests and warned that “the hatred and intolerance toward Christianity, without question, is growing.”

Responding to the label of “radical,” Jackson said, “They said Jesus was a radical. They said the Apostle Paul was a radical. … So, if standing with Jesus and biblical principles makes us radical, I’ll get a T-shirt and stay gladly in that space.”

Jackson added that many Americans, especially Gen Z, are returning to church, driven by what he called “a hunger for authenticity” and for God.
