“Pastor Khalid Mezher, a former Druze who embraced Christianity years ago, was killed along with roughly twenty members of his extended family in Suwayda.
Those killed reportedly included his wife, children, siblings, parents, and grandparents.
The massacre took place amid escalating sectarian violence involving Sunni Bedouin fighters and Druze militias, a conflict that has increasingly endangered religious minorities.
Pastor Mezher led the Good Shepherd Evangelical Church and was known for openly sharing the gospel in his city.
Though many relatives remained Druze, his conversion and ministry clearly identified him and his immediate family as Christian believers.
His death has been widely described by Christians as martyrdom.”
