Prayer in the Ambulance: A Rare Survival

In October 2022, Richard Palazo was rushed to the hospital after experiencing severe chest pain. Initial tests showed no blockages, and he was sent home. But days later, the symptoms returned—stronger than before. In the ambulance to the ER, Richard went into sudden cardiac arrest.

Paramedic Carlos Manriquez watched as Richard’s heart entered a rare, usually fatal rhythm. Before he could defibrillate, Carlos prayed—and Richard’s heart suddenly returned to a normal rhythm on its own. Doctors later said the odds of surviving without medication or shock were less than one percent.

Today, Richard has been episode-free since January 2023, has resumed an active life, and continues ministry with his wife. The couple credits God—and prayer—for his life.
