According to eyewitnesses and federal court filings, parents attempted to go to the church’s childcare area downstairs to get their children, but protesters moved into the stairwell and blocked access, preventing them from reaching their children at that time. Not only that but they kept roughly 50 worshippers from exiting the building during the chaos.
The filings and witness statements also say protesters were screaming profanities inside the church, including yelling at children and making hostile statements about their parents like “Your parents are going to burn in hell!”, causing fear and distress among families.
This incident is now part of a federal case involving allegations of interfering with religious worship. No matter your politics—blocking parents from their children and trapping people inside a church crosses a serious line.
