Puerto Rico Affirms Personhood From Conception

In a landmark move, Governor Jenniffer González-Colón signed legislation amending Puerto Rico’s Civil Code to affirm that every human being—including the unborn from the moment of conception—is a natural person under the law.

This means unborn children are now legally acknowledged as persons, not property, not potential life, but human beings with inherent dignity from the very beginning. Pro-life leaders have called this a historic and moral milestone, affirming that life does not begin at birth, viability, or convenience—it begins at conception.

This law embeds the recognition of life from conception into the legal foundation of the territory. In a culture that increasingly dehumanizes the most vulnerable, this is a clear stand for truth.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you…” — Jeremiah 1:5

Life is not a political issue. It’s a moral one. And truth doesn’t change with culture.
