Remembering Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down

Brad Arnold, lead singer and founding member of the American rock band 3 Doors Down, died peacefully in his sleep at age 47 after battling stage 4 kidney cancer. He passed away at home surrounded by his wife, Jennifer, and family, according to a statement from the band.

Arnold revealed in May 2025 that he had stage 4 clear cell renal carcinoma that had spread to his lungs. In a message to fans, he asked for prayers and said, “We serve a mighty God, and He can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely not scared of it at all.”

Formed in Mississippi in 1996, 3 Doors Down rose to prominence with the hit single “Kryptonite,” written by Arnold at age 15, followed by songs like “Here Without You” and “It’s Not My Time.” Arnold remained the band’s voice and frontman throughout its success.

Though the band was not explicitly Christian, Arnold frequently shared his faith publicly. In 2024, he paused a concert to share the Gospel, and he often spoke about how faith helped him overcome addiction. The band canceled all 2025 tour dates following his diagnosis.

Tributes poured in from fellow musicians and fans. The band remembered him for his “kindness, humor, generosity,” and for his “faith, and deep love for his family and friends.”

Arnold is survived by his wife Jennifer. His family has requested privacy.
Please pray for his family.
