Scarlet Cord, Saved by the Sign

Many people don’t know that the scarlet cord Rahab hung from her window wasn’t just a signal—it was prophetic sign of salvation.

The Hebrew word for “cord” implies a twisted thread, and scarlet in Scripture is repeatedly tied to atonement and blood. When Jericho fell, everything under judgment was destroyed—except the house marked by scarlet. Just like the blood on the doorposts in Egypt, the scarlet thread marked who would be saved from destruction.

Rahab’s house was spared not because of her past, but because of the sign she trusted. That thread pointed forward to the blood of Jesus—through which judgment passes over all who are covered.
