A 25-year-old woman in Spain, Noelia Castillo, has died by legal euthanasia after a prolonged and highly contested court process that drew national attention. Castillo, who suffered severe physical and psychological trauma following a past assault that left her paralyzed and in chronic pain, requested assisted death under Spain’s euthanasia law.
Her father, supported by a Christian legal advocacy group, fought to stop the procedure, arguing she was in a vulnerable state and needed protection and care rather than death. The case moved through multiple levels of the legal system, but courts ultimately upheld her right to proceed. After more than 600 days of delays due to legal challenges, the procedure was carried out. Before her death, Castillo expressed deep exhaustion from her suffering, reportedly saying she wanted to “stop the pain” and rest from what she had endured.
This is absolutely horrifying. What a dangerous precedent. Death is not the answer to suffering. Jesus is.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I (Jesus) have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” —John 10:10
We are literally watching a culture redefine mercy as DEATH. But God defines mercy as life, healing, and redemption!
The answer to suffering is not ending a life—
it is encountering the One who gives new life. And those who pushed for these laws, and those involved in carrying it out, will be held accountable in eternity for m*rder if they do not repent.
THIS is why Christians need to get off their butts and start sharing the GOOD NEWS, healing the sick, and CASTING OUT DEMONS.
