Jonathan Roumie shared a deeply personal testimony describing how surrendering his career to God became the turning point of his life. He said the one thing he had resisted was giving up control over his work as an actor. “I had to just get on my knees and surrender my entire life and my career,” Roumie said. “The thing that I hadn’t done was surrender my career because I was trying to manage the control of it.”
He explained that he had been “checking all the boxes” to be successful, juggling multiple side jobs, when suddenly everything stopped. “All of a sudden those dried up,” he said. “Next thing I know, I’m out of food, and I don’t know how I’m going to buy food tomorrow.”
Roumie said that after praying a surrender prayer, something unexpected happened within hours. “I surrendered, and hours later I experienced a literal financial miracle that changed my life,” he said. “It changed my concept of what it meant to surrender to God, to really trust God, to have faith.”
He described receiving multiple checks in the mail from companies he hadn’t worked with in years. “I ended up getting four checks in the mail,” Roumie said. “Some of which I hadn’t worked in years. They were like, ‘Oh, we forgot to pay you five years’ worth of residuals. Here’s 800 bucks.’”
That same day, he said his situation completely reversed. “I went from negative 80 bucks in my bank account and thousands of dollars in debt that morning in May of 2018, to that afternoon having $1,100 in these checks,” he said.
Reflecting on the moment, Roumie said, “What I hadn’t done was just completely trusted God that He would take care of me.” He added that shortly after, everything changed. “Three months later, I booked The Chosen. My life’s never been the same since.”
