The Bible Recap Hits Apple Top 10 Again

The daily Bible reading podcast “The Bible Recap” has climbed into Apple Podcasts’ Top 10 for the third year in a row, a milestone host Tara Leigh Cobble says reflects people rediscovering their Christian faith. “We’re seeing a lot of people who are returning to the faith,” Cobble said. “Those who walked away or deconstructed — for whatever reason — some of them are coming back home.”
Cobble explained that the podcast grew out of her own spiritual journey. Although she grew up in a Christian home, she said she once lacked hunger for Scripture until she was challenged to read the Bible more deeply. “I fell in love with God through this conduit of His words,” she said. “Something that I always knew and admired and respected and knew was true, I then fell in love with.”
A key turning point, she said, came when she realized, “The Bible isn’t about me. It’s for me. It’s not about me. It’s about God. It’s about who He is.” That insight led her to launch “The Bible Recap” in 2019, originally hoping just “300 people would do it with me.” Instead, the podcast has surpassed 500 million downloads worldwide. Reflecting on the growth, Cobble said, “My prayer when I started was that 300 people would do it with me. I mean, Ephesians 3:20 — ‘exceedingly more than you can ask or hope’ — re-imagined.”
Cobble consistently encourages listeners to focus on persistence rather than perfection. “If you fall behind, just pick back up,” she said. “It says day one, day two. And if there’s four days between those, it doesn’t matter. Pick back up. You’re right on time.” She emphasized that the goal is relationship, not flawless performance. “Don’t let your perfectionism steal your enthusiasm,” she said. “This is about looking for God and His character in the pages of His Word.”
