Actor and comedian Tim Allen says he has completed reading the entire Bible “word by word page by page no skimming” over 13 months. In his latest post, he wrote, “Humbled, enlightened and amazed at what I read and what I learned. I will rest and meditate on so much. I will begin it again.”
The update follows Allen’s recent comments about continuing to study Scripture, including telling Bill Maher on the “Club Random” podcast that he has been focused on the New Testament writings of the Apostle Paul. “Paul said something very intuitive that I’m still studying,” Allen said, describing Paul’s view that the law exposes sin and provides “guardrails” for human behavior.
Allen has also spoken about moments that made faith feel more real to him, recalling a trip to Jerusalem when a guide pointed out places Jesus walked and he thought, “it never occurred to me that the dude actually existed.” He has been open about wrestling with doubt over the years, including questioning God after his father died when Allen was 11, but later describing his faith as being reborn and referring to God as “the Builder.” “I always do ask… the Builder, ‘What did You want me to do?’” he said, adding, “you’ve got to be prepared for the answer.”
