Christian singer TobyMac spoke about the 2019 loss of his son, Truett Foster McKeehan, sharing how it reshaped his view of eternity and forced him to confront grief in a new way.
“I spoke about eternity before, but I never really thought about it deeply … because I didn’t need to,” he said, adding that he now imagines what eternity is like and pictures his loved ones there: “Dad if you could only see what I could see right now.”
TobyMac said, “The truth is, I didn’t know grief, really,” and described sorrow that “comes in waves” and can hit “really hard.” He admitted, “I don’t know if I’ll ever laugh as deeply… But I can smile and I can laugh.”
He also shared what he has clung to in the pain: “God doesn’t always take away the cold. He promises that He’ll be right there in it with us… And I found Him there, or He found me there.”
