A former New Hampshire Democrat, Stacie Laughton, once celebrated by the media as the nation’s first openly transgender state legislator has now pleaded guilty in a federal case involving child sexual abuse material.
According to court records, the charges were for possession and distribution of explicit material that included very young children as young as three years old.
The state representative and his romantic partner, Lindsay Groves, were indicted on three counts of sexual exploitation of children. Groves, who worked at a daycare in Tynsborough, Massachusetts, took n*ked photos of some of the children between the ages of three to five in the daycare bathroom and would send them to Laughton. The couple reportedly sent thousands of text messages about the children with Laughton requesting access to have s*x with them. They face between 15 to 30 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a lifetime of supervised release.
