Two Atheists Find Faith After Watching The Chosen

Actor Jonathan Roumie said two lifelong atheists decided to follow Christ after watching The Chosen, describing their conversions as “remarkable.” Appearing on The View, Roumie said he recently came across messages from two people who “had been lifelong atheists and never had any interest in God,” but were unexpectedly drawn in after someone sent them the series.
“I pick two different people and both of these people that wrote to me happen to have been lifelong atheists,” Roumie said. “Somehow somebody sent them the show and all of a sudden, it’s like that first episode just kind of grabs hold of you.” He said the viewers later became interested in Scripture, began attending church, and ultimately converted to Christianity. “If God wants to, He’ll find you, He’ll follow you, He’ll go after you,” Roumie added.
Roumie also reflected on the spiritual depth required to portray Jesus, especially while filming the crucifixion scenes for the upcoming sixth season. “It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do,” he said, explaining that entering into Christ’s suffering required emotional, mental, and spiritual weight beyond physical acting. “I asked God to allow me some sense of what that would be like, and He didn’t disappoint.”
He said his personal faith is inseparable from his performance. “I don’t think it would have the same kind of authenticity,” Roumie said. “What I bring to the role is my relationship to Christ, my relationship with Jesus and my love for Him… it’s made me want to love people.”
