UK Party Proposes Protecting Church Buildings from Conversion

“Advance UK has announced a new policy aimed at preventing churches from being sold and converted into mosques, temples, or other non-Christian religious sites.

The party says the proposal is not about restricting freedom of belief, but about preserving Britain’s Christian heritage when historic church buildings are purchased and repurposed. Many of these structures have stood for centuries, holding generations of baptisms, weddings, funerals, and worship rooted in the Gospel.

Supporters argue that once these buildings are sold and converted, they are rarely returned to Christian use. The policy would seek to keep them as Christian spaces — or at minimum make conversion to other faith uses far more difficult.

Backers see it as a stand for protecting the religious and cultural foundations of the nation.

What’s your perspective — preservation of heritage, or unnecessary interference?”
