Undertaker Credits Michelle McCool for Renewed Faith

WWE legend The Undertaker (Mark Calaway) shared that although he had always believed in God, he did not live his life according to that belief for many years, instead living what he described as an excessive lifestyle. He said he believed in God but was “not living my life for God.”

A major turning point came through his wife, Michelle McCool, who also worked in WWE. Calaway explained that when they first met, Michelle was deeply committed to her work and stood out to him because of her strong work ethic and genuine passion. Over time, as they grew closer and began dating, Michelle started attending Lake Hills Church and repeatedly invited him to join her.

At first, Calaway resisted going to church, saying he already believed in God and did not feel the need to attend. However, he said Michelle was persistent because she wanted him “to be the man that I could be,” something he emphasized had nothing to do with his wrestling persona as The Undertaker.

Eventually, he agreed to go to church, albeit reluctantly. Once there, he found the experience very different from what he expected. Rather than judgment or condemnation, he described the atmosphere as welcoming and conversational. He said he went from feeling tense and guarded to leaning in and realizing, “this is pretty cool.”

Calaway said that moment marked the beginning of his journey back to living his life the way he should. He credited Michelle directly for putting him in the right place at the right time, saying she helped get his life “back on track again to what really matters.” He expressed deep gratitude, stating he is “forever indebted” to her for helping guide him back to faith, and said she brings out the best in him and continues to be a strong influence in his spiritual growth.
