WHERE JESUS WENT AFTER DYING ON THE CROSS
He didn’t just die… He went where death thought it had the final word.
Scripture actually shows this step by step.
After the cross, Jesus truly entered death itself.
“Because you will not abandon my soul to Hades…” → Acts 2:27
He wasn’t held there. Death could not keep Him.
“It was impossible for death to keep its hold on Him.” → Acts 2:24
There’s also this mysterious moment:
“He went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison…” → 1 Peter 3:18–19
And Paul confirms He descended before He rose:
“He also descended to the lower, earthly regions.” → Ephesians 4:9
This wasn’t defeat. This was authority being revealed.
Then after the resurrection, He says:
“I was dead, and now I am alive forevermore… and I hold the keys of death and Hades.” → Revelation 1:18
Even before the cross, Jesus already declared:
“I am the resurrection and the life.” → John 11:25
So this moment wasn’t Him gaining power.
It was Him proving He always had it.
Death didn’t take Him. He walked through it.
And came back with the keys.
