A former Secretary of State just assessed the U.S.-Iran war — and her conclusion is significant.
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice argued that the three-month military campaign against Iran has degraded Tehran’s ability to project power, damaged its conventional forces, missile stockpiles, and proxy networks, and — critically — significantly delayed Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “It will be a long time before Iran can build a viable nuclear weapon,” she wrote. Rice concluded that the conflict has left Tehran weaker, Israel stronger, and President Trump with a historic opportunity to secure long-term regional stability. 
Rice served through 9/11 and the Iraq War. When she assesses a Middle East conflict, her framing carries weight that pure commentary cannot. Her argument is not that war is good — it’s that the strategic window now open may not return.
Six American service members have given their lives in this operation. That cost is not abstract. Every flag folded is someone’s son, someone’s father, someone’s husband.
Scripture has never romanticized war. “Blessed are the peacemakers” — Matthew 5:9. But it also recognizes that some threats, left unchecked, destroy more lives than confronting them does.
Whatever your view of this conflict, the men and women serving deserve prayer — and the leaders making these decisions deserve wisdom they cannot find on their own.
