A life-long struggle with fear and anxiety was dramatically broken through faith and the power of God in the life of Valerie Carter, a woman whose story has been shared by CBN.
Valerie’s trauma began at just five years old. Years of abuse and violence left her living in constant fear. Even after marrying a loving husband and having children, her anxiety and terror persisted, manifesting in sleepless nights, panic attacks, and feelings of impending danger. She recalls, “I fell to the ground shaking, terrified… Whoever is in this house is here to kill you.”
Despite praying and reading her Bible, it wasn’t until she confessed her struggle to a friend at church and submitted herself fully to God that transformation began. Valerie recounts, “I asked the Lord, ‘Is fear my idol?’ And the Holy Spirit clapped back… Yes, fear is your idol.”
Immediately, she experienced a powerful deliverance. She describes seeing a sinister presence vanish and feeling “as if someone removed an anvil from my neck.” For the first time in 40 years, Valerie slept peacefully, waking refreshed and free from the lifelong grip of fear.
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”-Psalm 34:4
