Gas Prices, Promises, and Provision

A president standing in front of Marine One just made a promise that millions of American families desperately want to come true. “There is so much, like record-setting — but when the war ends, gasoline prices will go down to below what they were before,” he added over the noise of Marine One idling on the ground. Behind every gas pump in this country there is a working family doing math in their head. A single mom calculating whether the tank gets her to Friday. A construction crew watching diesel eat into a thin margin. A retired couple skipping a trip to see the grandkids because the cost of getting there has tripled the budget. These are not statistics on a news ticker. These are real people praying real prayers at real gas stations. Whether prices fall the way the president predicts or not, the Bible has something deeper to say about provision that no administration in history has ever been able to deliver. God’s people have always faced economic pressure. Israel walked through famine. Joseph stewarded grain through seven brutal years of scarcity. Elijah was fed by ravens at a brook when there was nothing else. The widow of Zarephath was sustained by a jar of flour that did not run out. The pattern in Scripture is consistent. Leaders rise and fall. Economies expand and contract. Markets respond to wars and rumors of wars. But the God who sustained His people through every empire that has ever existed is still the same God today. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19. That verse was not written from a palace. It was written from a Roman prison by a man who had learned to be content with much and content with little. Hope for lower prices is fine. Hope for the next election is fine. But neither one can carry the weight that only Jesus was meant to carry. Pray for our leaders. Pray for our economy. And remember where your provision actually comes from. What would change in your life if you trusted God for your daily bread the way you trust gas prices for your peace of mind? #trump #gas #america
