Kelsey Grammer Shares Lasting Abortion Regret

Kelsey Grammer is speaking candidly about abortion — and the regret he says has never left him.

In his memoir Karen: A Brother Remembers, the Frasier star reflects on two abortions in his past, including the loss of his son in 1974. Though he once supported abortion, Grammer says the decision still “eats away at my soul.”

“I know many people do not have a problem with abortion,” he wrote, “and though I have supported it in the past, the abortion of my son eats away at my soul.”

Grammer said he didn’t fight the decision at the time because he believed “a woman has the right to do what she wants with her own body.”

That belief, he says, hasn’t changed — but the pain has remained. “I still do,” he wrote. “But it’s hard for me. Still is.”

Looking back, Grammer was blunt about his regret. “I volunteered to have my son’s body vacuumed out of his mother’s,” he wrote. “I regret it.”

He also criticized abortion doctors, writing, “I have no idea how they call themselves doctors.”
