The numbers landed in early May, and they crossed party lines in a way almost nothing else does in American politics. A new Harvard CAPS-Harris poll has found that 74 percent of U.S. registered voters now believe the United States is winning the war with Iran, with only 26 percent saying Iran is winning. The survey was conducted online from April 23 through April 26 among 2,745 registered voters. What stood out most was how broad the agreement was. The poll found 91 percent of Republicans, 70 percent of Independents, and 60 percent of Democrats all share the view that America is on the winning side of the conflict. Among voters who have served in the United States military, 72 percent say the U.S. is winning. On the broader picture, 65 percent of voters said Iran is still attempting to rebuild its nuclear capability after the U.S. airstrikes, and 63 percent said America should continue blockading Iranian ships if Tehran fails to honor a ceasefire. Strong majorities also said any future deal with Iran must require it to stop supporting Hezbollah and Hamas, recognize Israel’s right to exist, and surrender its enriched uranium. The conflict remains live, and a separate Fox News survey released this month found a majority of voters now oppose continued military involvement even as they believe America is winning. War is rarely as simple as the headlines make it sound, and the public seems to be holding two truths at once. “When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace.” Luke 11:21. A nation that wants peace must be strong enough to hold it, and that strength is not just measured in weapons but in resolve, in clarity about what is being defended, and in the prayers of the people back home. There are American servicemen and women in harm’s way tonight, and they need both. What do you think the right path forward is for the United States from here, both militarily and diplomatically? Pray for our troops and pray for peace. #trump #america #protection
