Whether you like our president or not, Scripture is clear: believers are commanded to pray for those in authority. Prayer for our president and leadership is not optional:
1) God COMMANDS it — not suggests it.
“I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions…” (1 Timothy 2:1–2)
Paul didn’t write this when Rome had godly leadership. He wrote it under pagan rulers.
Praying for leadership is an act of obedience to God, not endorsement of policies.
2) Their decisions directly affect YOUR life.
You don’t have to like the driver to understand that if the driver crashes, everyone in the vehicle suffers. Prayer for your driver is wisdom.
If Christians refuse to pray because of bitterness, pride, or politics, we leave the door open for spiritual chaos. Silence isn’t neutrality—it’s abdication. You may not agree with the president or even trust him. But refusing to pray is like refusing to put on a seatbelt because you don’t like who’s driving.
A praying Church is a protecting Church.
So pray. Because whether people like to admit it or not, the direction of leadership affects the destiny of a nation.
