President Donald Trump has positioned the restoration of Christianity in American public life as one of the defining commitments of his second term. In his Good Friday address from the Resolute Desk, Trump declared that religion is experiencing a resurgence across the United States, telling the nation, To be a great nation, you must have religion, and you must have God. In his Easter Sunday message, the White House described Trump as a fierce defender of the Christian faith, citing a series of executive actions and new institutions established to protect Christian liberty. Trump established the historic White House Faith Office, the first office in the West Wing dedicated exclusively to advancing faith. He created the Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias to investigate discrimination against Christians under the previous administration. He launched the Religious Liberty Commission to safeguard religious freedom and pardoned pro-life activists who had been prosecuted for praying outside abortion clinics. He directed federal agencies to support religious expression in the workplace and rescinded speech codes restricting military chaplains. Trump has quoted Scripture from John 3:16 in public addresses and confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior over himself and First Lady Melania Trump in his Holy Week message. Whether one celebrates his presidency or critiques it, the public re-introduction of Christ to the nation’s highest office is historically rare. Scripture has always honored nations that publicly acknowledge their dependence on God. Proverbs 14:34 says, Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. America was founded by men who knew that no nation rises without God and no nation survives long without Him. The cross does not need a president to be true. But a nation that forgets the cross will not stand. What does it mean for a country to truly honor Jesus Christ? #trump #america #faith
