A Texas school board was confronted by furious parents in February 2026 after an unauthorized outside group entered Wylie East High School during lunch and distributed Qurans, hijabs, and Sharia law pamphlets directly to students without parental notification. The group, called “Why Islam,” gained access to campus when a district employee bypassed established security protocols — a violation the district itself confirmed after completing its investigation. One staff member was placed on administrative leave. Parents who showed up to the February school board meeting demanded accountability, asking why their children were exposed to religious materials without prior consent and why the consequences for those responsible were minimal. The incident ignited a national conversation about double standards in public education — many parents pointed out that a Christian organization distributing Bibles on a public school campus would face immediate and severe consequences. Wylie ISD stated that policies were not properly followed and committed to updating visitor protocols. The First Amendment cuts both ways. Government institutions are not permitted to promote any religion — and that protection applies equally, regardless of which faith is involved. Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Parents are right to fight for that authority. Who gets to shape what your children believe — you, or the school? #accountability #school #usa
