Representative Wesley Hunt, the Texas Republican from the 38th district, fired back this week after Democrat Jasmine Crockett compared voter ID requirements to a Jim Crow style poll tax. He told the panel his family is all Black, every single one of them carries a valid ID, and every single one of them can walk into a polling place and cast a ballot. Polling from Rasmussen shows 77 percent of likely voters consider photo ID a reasonable safeguard for election integrity. Hunt’s point lands because he is not theorizing.
