Beth Moore is speaking out again against the Southern Baptist Convention, warning that the denomination is still more focused on guarding pulpits from women than protecting women and children from abusive men in ministry.
In a lengthy statement, Moore said she left the SBC after concluding that its leadership was “more interested in protecting shepherds than the sheep entrusted to their care.” She argued that the real crisis is not women seeking power, but pastors misusing and abusing women while the denomination remains fixated on restricting women’s roles.
Moore also warned that vague language about what women can and cannot do in church could be used to sideline gifted women from ministry. She said her fight is not for women to take over pulpits, but for SBC women to flourish in their God-given gifts, serve Jesus, and proclaim the Gospel.
