A 20-year-old Florida man says his cross necklace saved his life after he was accidentally shot in the chest at close range.
Aiden Perry was at a friend’s apartment in The Villages when a .40-caliber pistol went off. “I looked down and saw tons of blood,” Perry said. “I honestly thought I was going to die.”
Doctors believe the bullet hit the cross on his gold chain, splitting it and changing the bullet’s path. Trauma surgeon Khafra Garcia Henry said Perry was “extremely lucky,” adding that without the chain, “the outcome would have been completely different.”
The bullet missed Perry’s heart and major organs, instead breaking his arm. His father credits their faith for the outcome, and Perry says the experience strengthened his belief.
“It’s a reminder to never stop believing,” he said. “God’s definitely real.”
