Easter Rescue: “God is good” from Behind Enemy Lines

Speaking about the rescue of a downed F-15 crew member, Pete Hegseth highlighted a powerful moment of faith in the middle of danger.

After being shot down over Iran, the airman was isolated and hiding when he finally managed to activate his emergency transponder. His first message was simple: “God is good.” Hegseth said that in that moment of fear, “his faith and fighting spirit shone through.”

The timeline carried deep symbolism—shot down on Good Friday, hiding through Saturday, and then rescued on Sunday. He was flown out of Iran “as the sun was rising on Easter Sunday,” with Hegseth describing it as “a pilot reborn.”

In the end, the mission concluded with all personnel safe—“all home and accounted for”—leaving, as he put it, “a nation rejoicing” and echoing once more: “God is good.”
