Six U.S. service members killed in a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker crash in Iraq during Operation Epic Fury have been identified by the Department of War.
The victims are Maj. John A. Klinner, Capt. Ariana Savino, Tech. Sgt. Ashley Pruitt, Capt. Seth Koval, Capt. Curtis Angst, and Tech. Sgt. Tyler Simmons. Three of them served with the 99th Refueling Squadron in Birmingham, Alabama, while three others were based with the Ohio National Guard’s 121st Air Refueling Wing.
Officials and leaders said they are heartbroken by the loss of the airmen, praising their service and sacrifice. The crash occurred Thursday in western Iraq, and the cause remains under investigation.
