Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Kevin Johnson has died at age 55 after being found unconscious at a homeless encampment in Los Angeles.
The county medical examiner said he suffered blunt head trauma and stab wounds, ruling the death a homicide now under investigation.
Johnson played in the NFL for the Patriots, Vikings, Raiders, and Eagles, recording seven sacks in two seasons with Philadelphia.
He later played in the Arena Football League. Investigators believe he had been living at the encampment, with friends noting health struggles later in life.
