From Jihad Burden to Freedom in Christ

Mohamad Faridi grew up in Tehran, Iran, in a devout Muslim family deeply influenced by martyrdom and jihad during the Iran-Iraq war.

As a young man he memorized the Quran, practiced strict Islamic rituals, and even punished his own body to earn Allah’s favor, but he felt constant guilt and hopelessness because he never knew if he had done enough to be accepted by God.

After military service, he met his childhood friend Rasul, who had become a Christian and displayed a surprising peace and transformation.

When Rasul explained that Jesus had already suffered and shed His blood to pay for humanity’s sins, Faridi was deeply moved and realized that the burden he had been trying to carry was already finished through Christ. He repented and accepted Jesus, experiencing what he described as freedom and a lifted burden.

Because converting from Islam in Iran can bring severe persecution, Faridi faced rejection from his family and eventually fled the country, receiving asylum in the United States in 2012.

Today he shares his testimony, saying that the greatest truth he discovered is that salvation comes not through human effort or sacrifice, but through what Jesus has already done.
