New American Idol winner Hannah Harper is drawing attention after using her biggest moment on national television to glorify Jesus. As she sang Chris Tomlin’s “At the Cross (Love Ran Red)” through tears, the 25-year-old became overwhelmed with emotion while declaring, “At the cross, at the cross, I surrender my life.”
Harper’s bold faith did not begin in the finale. Throughout the competition, the mother of three openly pointed people to Jesus, describing her life as being for His glory. During her audition, she also shared how God carried her through postpartum depression, and later performed Christian music during the season.
Her victory is now drawing attention not only because she won the title, but because she used one of the biggest moments of her life to glorify God. In a culture where public faith is often softened or hidden, her final song is sparking discussion about what it looks like to openly honor Jesus on one of America’s biggest entertainment stages.
