After being dismissed as head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, John Harbaugh released a farewell message rooted in his Christian faith, framing the moment with gratitude rather than bitterness.
“I was hoping for a different kind of message on my last day here,” Harbaugh wrote. “It comes with disappointment, but more with gratitude and appreciation.”
He described the legacy he hoped to leave as one “built on faith, always fighting, always believing,” and concluded by pointing directly to God as the source of peace and endurance.
“Finally, to the author and finisher of our faith,” Harbaugh wrote, “all is well with my soul because of the good God who guides and sustains me.”
Harbaugh has previously spoken about faith guiding him beyond results. In a past Athletes in Action “Hall of Faith” address, he quoted Scripture: “A person makes their plans, but the Lord directs their steps” (Proverbs 16:9).
